“I found I could say things with colours and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for"
- Georgia O'Keeffe
You don’t have to be Picasso to get started. Simply relax and let your emotions guide you.
While emotions should lead your creation, our classes can help you make the first step. We put a lot of thought, care, and detail into our programmes so that our students can take home the most valuable learnings.
What can one gain through art?
It’s common knowledge that art improves creativity, but many would be surprised to learn that it promotes critical thinking too. One must think conceptually to bring multiple solutions to life while creating. The artistic vision evolves during the process, which builds critical problem-solving skills. Then, the act of thinking outside the box becomes second nature to the artist.
Creating art also promotes emotional growth, giving you an outlet to better express yourself as it becomes a medium for self-care and meditation that frees you from physical limitations. This means focusing only on the art in front of you so you can empty your mind of worries and intrusive thoughts.
Whether you’re handling a brush or clay, picking up art improves your motor skills and increases mobility in the hands and fingers. These will eventually become mental shortcuts implemented in your daily life.
What about specific benefits for children?
Apart from being an incredibly fun activity, creating art lets children learn outside the sometimes-stifling classroom setting, particularly around colours and textures as well as spatial relationships.
It’s also a great communicative tool for children, especially those with difficulty in verbalising ideas and feelings. Creating art empowers children to express themselves through various media, affirm their freedom of expression, and provide a new set of skills for self-expression and communication through all senses.
